Angry Birds CCG adapts the Rovio mobile-game phenomenon during its 2011-2013 peak, when Angry Birds was one of the top-grossing mobile games in the world and a retail merchandise juggernaut.
The game
Released in 2013 by Topps, Angry Birds TCG uses an attribute-comparison format where each card has Strength, Intelligence and Weapon values. Cards feature the iconic bird characters (Red, Chuck, Bomb, Matilda, Terence, the Blues) and the Bad Piggies across themed location backdrops from the mobile game levels.
The context
Angry Birds had exploded as a mobile-gaming phenomenon from 2009-2013 and Rovio aggressively licensed the IP into every merchandise category imaginable (plush, figures, apparel, books, an animated series, a theatrical film). Topps' TCG launched during that merchandise-saturation peak, primarily through European newsagent distribution.
The collector angle
Multiple themed waves shipped, including Angry Birds Star Wars, Angry Birds Go!, and various standard releases. Holofoil rare bird cards are the primary chase pulls. Because the Angry Birds game itself has declined significantly in cultural prominence since 2015, the TCG cards have taken on nostalgic early-2010s-mobile-gaming value rather than active collector attention.
