The game

Released in 2018 by Level99 Games, Argent Saga TCG is a two-player duel where each player builds around a Legendary Champion (drawn from factions of Knights, Mages, Rogues, Druids, Warlocks) and fights across a shared battlefield with Troop, Spell, and Relic cards. Mechanics emphasise tempo and board-state management over raw card-advantage.

The context

Level99 Games is an independent studio best known for BattleCON and other tactical-combat small-box games. Argent Saga was their ambitious bid to enter the traditional booster-based TCG format with serious tournament-design intent. The 2018 release window was challenging because the mainstream TCG market had contracted significantly from its 2000s peak.

The collector angle

Only a few waves shipped as Level99 focused resources back onto their core small-box game catalog. The foil Champion cards are the chase pulls. Because the game's tournament-focused design attracted a serious competitive community, cards that became staples of tournament-winning decks command outsize aftermarket prices relative to their rarity. Level99 occasionally releases Argent Saga promo-cards through their other products, creating small-run secondary-market items.
