Battlestar Galactica CCG rides the Ronald D. Moore reboot series (2003-2009), specifically the middle-late seasons when the Cylon-identity reveals and the New Caprica arcs had elevated the show into prestige-TV conversations.
The game
Released in 2006 by WizKids, Battlestar Galactica CCG is a two-player duel where one player commands the Colonial Fleet and the other the Cylon forces, fighting across Location cards representing ships (Galactica, Pegasus, Basestars) and planetary surfaces. The Hidden Cylon mechanic lets the Cylon player conceal certain cards from the Colonial player until revealed, modelling the show's human-form Cylon paranoia.
The context
WizKids was the HeroClix publisher branching out into CCG territory, and the BSG property was their prestige license during the show's most-acclaimed period. The card pool covers miniseries through Season 3 content, aligning with the show's aired episodes at release time. Photography came from Sci-Fi Channel publicity stills and production photography, giving cards an authentic show-accurate feel.
The collector angle
The base set and a starter-deck line are the main prints before WizKids was sold to Topps in 2007 and the CCG direction shifted. The Cylon Number-Six foil and the Admiral Adama foil are the signature pulls. Signed cards from BSG cast convention appearances (Edward James Olmos, Mary McDonnell, Tricia Helfer) are cross-market artifacts that trade at prices driven by the TV-memorabilia side rather than the CCG side.
