Dragon Booster TCG is the card-game companion to the Nerd Corps/Cartoon Network animated series that ran from 2004-2006, a kid-action property built around dragon-riders, gladiator races, and a prophesied hero named Artha Penn.
The game
Released in 2005 by Score Entertainment, Dragon Booster TCG is a two-player racing-and-combat duel where each player picks a dragon (Beau, Cyrano, Wyldfyr, Fracshun, Cruger, Lumineon) and races through Academy track location cards while also executing Jakk combat moves. The Gauntlet mechanic applies the show's signature armour-transformation system to cards.
The context
Nerd Corps had Dragon Booster on Cartoon Network with two complete seasons plus a shortened third season that was partially aired. The TCG launched aligned with the first-season broadcast and was pitched at the boy-kid action audience alongside the show's toy line.
The collector angle
Only a couple of waves shipped before Score Entertainment wound down the Dragon Booster line. The Beau (Artha's signature dragon) foil and Cyrano rare are the primary pulls for show fans. Because Dragon Booster never had a major revival after its 2006 cancellation, the 2005-2006 TCG cards are the only commercial Dragon Booster card product ever produced, giving them a specific archival significance for fans of the show.
