Eagles CCG is a mid-1990s American-football-themed CCG with NFL licensing, one of the several attempts during that era to bring collectible card gameplay to the football audience.
The game
Released in 1995 by Eagles Games, Eagles CCG is a two-player football duel with deck-built offensive and defensive units drawn from NFL player cards. Mechanics use a Play-Call system where players select offensive plays and defensive formations in simultaneous hidden-commit, resolving the matchup and moving the chains or forcing turnovers.
The context
The mid-1990s NFL-tie-in CCG window included Red Zone, NFL Showdown, Fast Break and several smaller titles. Eagles CCG competed in that crowded space and struggled for distribution relative to the more heavily marketed products.
The collector angle
Only a base set effectively shipped. Rare player cards covering 1995-era NFL stars (Steve Young, Brett Favre, Emmitt Smith, Barry Sanders, Reggie White) are the primary crossover appeal items, often sold into the broader sports-card market rather than CCG channels. Sealed Eagles CCG product is genuinely rare because the print run was small and most copies were opened for the player-card content rather than preserved as CCG sets.
