Gwiezdna Kohorta (Star Cohort) is a Polish-language science-fiction CCG from the 2000s, set in a distant-future interstellar empire where Cohorts of genetically-engineered soldiers fight for control of human worlds.
The game
Released in Poland in the 2000s, Gwiezdna Kohorta CCG is a two-player duel where each player builds a Cohort of soldiers from different genetic-engineering programs and fights across colonised planets. Mechanics use a unit-progression system where Cohort members gain experience over combat rounds, reflecting the setting's careerist-soldier narrative.
The context
The Polish CCG market of the 2000s produced multiple original-IP domestic products alongside translations of major international games. Gwiezdna Kohorta sat in the Polish domestic CCG niche alongside Thorgal, Veto, and the Crystalicum lines.
The collector angle
Polish-language only, with essentially no international distribution. Cards are collected by Polish CCG completionists and by sci-fi-genre collectors tracking domestic Polish-language gaming history. Foil Cohort Commander cards are the primary chase pulls for the small Polish collector aftermarket.
