InuYasha TCG brings Rumiko Takahashi's time-travel feudal-fantasy romance into card form during the anime's Cartoon Network dub run, when the InuYasha-Kagome-Sesshomaru character dynamic was at peak fan investment.
The game
Released in 2005 by Score Entertainment, InuYasha TCG is a two-player duel where each player builds a party around InuYasha, Kagome, Miroku, Sango, Shippo, Sesshomaru, or Naraku-affiliated villains. The Shikon Jewel fragment mechanic mirrors the show's central quest: accumulating Jewel Fragment cards grants power boosts but also attracts antagonist attention.
The context
Score Entertainment's Viz-licensed TCG line was active from 2004-2006, with Yu Yu Hakusho, InuYasha and Dragon Ball Z all running simultaneously. The show was still airing (the classic InuYasha series ran 2000-2004 with the Final Act following in 2009), and the TCG covered the character roster through the Naraku confrontation arc.
The collector angle
Kijin, Jaki, Lost and Found, and Tetsusaiga expansions are the main English runs. Foil InuYasha-with-Tetsusaiga and Sesshomaru-with-Tenseiga rare cards are the primary chase. The Naraku ultra-rare is an iconic trophy pull. Score lost license rights and the 2009 Final Act sequel arc was never covered by any English TCG, which makes the original InuYasha card pool historically complete for its era.
