Jackie Chan Adventures TCG adapts the Kids' WB animated series (2000-2005), the animated Jackie Chan property that fictionalised the martial-arts star as an archaeologist-adventurer alongside his niece Jade and their Uncle's magical Section 13 shop.

The game

Released in 2005 by Bandai, Jackie Chan Adventures TCG is a two-player duel where each player plays a Jackie Chan party (Jackie, Jade, Uncle, Tohru) recovering magical Talismans and fighting the Dark Hand. The Talisman mechanic is the signature: cards representing the twelve zodiac-animal Talismans grant specific supernatural abilities.

The context

The Kids' WB animated series ran for five seasons and had a substantial kid audience through its Saturday-morning slot. Bandai's TCG launch was timed late in the show's broadcast run, with card art pulled from the animated production.

The collector angle

Only a limited number of waves shipped before the show's broadcast ended. The twelve Talisman foil cards are the iconic complete-set collector chase because they represent the show's central mythology. Jackie, Jade and Uncle character rares are the main-cast pulls. Because Jackie Chan Adventures has not had a major revival since its 2005 conclusion, the TCG cards are a specific era-end artefact for fans who watched the show during its original run.
