Lego Ninjago Spinjitzu Card Game is the dedicated CCG tie-in to the Ninjago animated franchise, one of Lego's most successful original IPs and a perennial tentpole of their construction-toy line since 2011.
The game
Released in 2011 by Blue Ocean Entertainment (Europe) and Topps (US), the Ninjago Spinjitzu Card Game is a two-player duel where each player builds a team of Ninjago characters (Kai, Jay, Cole, Zane, Lloyd, Sensei Wu) and faces off against opposing Serpentine or Overlord threats. The Spinjitzu mechanic uses a stacking-card twist where elemental ninjas chain for bonus damage when played in correct sequence.
The context
Lego Ninjago launched in 2011 and the Spinjitzu Card Game shipped in the first-season window to build out the merchandise ecosystem. Multiple publishers have produced different Ninjago card games over the years in different regions; the Blue Ocean European edition and the Topps US edition are the most-commonly referenced.
The collector angle
Multiple waves aligned with Ninjago TV seasons (Masters of Spinjitzu, Rise of the Snakes, Legacy of the Green Ninja, Rebooted, Tournament of Elements). The Legendary/Ultra-rare character cards for each of the core ninjas are the signature pulls, with Lloyd-as-Green-Ninja foil being the iconic era-defining card. Lego has continued releasing Ninjago card product steadily through the 2010s and 2020s, so the line is still actively expanding in some regional markets.
