Looney Tunes TCG ties into Warner Bros.' 2003 Looney Tunes: Back in Action live-action/animated feature and the broader Looney Tunes merchandise revival surrounding that film's release.
The game
Released in 2003 by Upper Deck, Looney Tunes TCG is a two-player slapstick duel where each player builds a team of classic characters (Bugs, Daffy, Porky, Elmer, Wile E. Coyote, Road Runner, Taz, Foghorn, Sylvester, Tweety, and friends) and plays gag cards against each other. Damage is measured in Humiliation rather than hit points, reflecting the cartoon physics of the source material.
The context
Upper Deck was pushing hard into all-ages TCGs in 2003 (Yu-Gi-Oh, MLB 2003, Scooby-Doo, Looney Tunes, WWE Raw Deal in 2004). Looney Tunes: Back in Action underperformed at the box office, and the CCG's retail lifespan was curtailed as a result. Warner Bros. licensed character art directly from the animation-division archive, so card illustrations are cleanly studio-official.
The collector angle
Only a single base set effectively shipped before Upper Deck wound down the product as Back in Action fell out of theatres. Foil Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Wile E. Coyote cards are the cartoon-fan chase pulls. Because the line ended quickly, sealed boxes are a niche collector find rather than a bulk availability product, and long-time Looney Tunes merchandise collectors sometimes buy the CCG primarily as a display of Chuck Jones-era character art in card format.
