MegaMan NT Warrior TCG adapts the Capcom animated series (Rockman EXE in Japan), which was the 2002-2005 kid-TV iteration of the Mega Man franchise focused on Lan Hikari and his NetNavi partnership with MegaMan.EXE.
The game
Released in 2004 by Decipher, MegaMan NT Warrior TCG is a two-player head-to-head duel where each player picks a Net Operator (Lan, Chaud, Maylu, or a villain) and their NetNavi partner, then fights in virtual cyber arenas using Battle Chips just like the show's digital combat system. The Style Change and Double Soul mechanics reflect the anime's transformation sequences.
The context
Decipher licensed the TCG specifically to build a younger-audience pipeline after their Lord of the Rings TCG had matured. NT Warrior was airing on Kids' WB in the US and on TV Tokyo in Japan during the release window, and the TCG launched to coincide with that broadcast schedule. Card art was pulled from official Capcom artwork for the series.
The collector angle
The base set and the Cybermission expansion are the main English runs. Decipher produced the TCG only briefly before shifting focus. Foil chase cards include MegaMan, ProtoMan, and Bass in their alternate-form variants. Japanese-language Rockman EXE cards from the Konami release of the same property are a separate, non-compatible card pool but are often traded by collectors who track both versions. The Double Soul Battle Chip rares are the trophy pulls.
