Power Rangers CCG is the first-generation card game for the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers phenomenon, released at exactly the peak of Rangermania when the show was the top-rated kids' program in the US and every playground had a debate about who got to be the Red Ranger.

The game

Released in 1995 by Pressman Toy Corporation under Saban license, Power Rangers CCG is a two-player duel where each player builds a Ranger team (Red, Blue, Black, Yellow, Pink, Green/White) against opposing monsters (Rita Repulsa, Lord Zedd, and the weekly Putty Patrol monsters). Mechanics use a morph-and-battle sequence where weapon-combine cards chain into Megazord formations for big-hit finishers.

The context

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers had exploded into US pop culture since its 1993 debut, and Pressman rushed the CCG to shelves during the Season 2/3 peak. Card photography used direct footage stills from Saban's library, which gave cards a distinctly video-era look with some visible compression artifacts. Distribution was mass-market rather than hobby-store, placing the product alongside Pressman's board-game line in toy aisles.

The collector angle

Base set plus a small expansion make up the main print. Because distribution was mass-market and the kid audience was huge, print quantities were enormous and sealed product remained available in discount retail for years. The Green Ranger / Tommy Oliver cards are the iconic chase pulls for fans because Tommy's character arc was the show's breakout storyline. Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd villain rares command nostalgia value from adult Ranger fans rebuilding childhood collections.
