Star Wars Rebel Attax is Topps' European-market trading-card-game tie-in to the Star Wars Rebels animated series (2014-2018), aimed squarely at the Disney XD kid audience.

The game

Released from 2015 onwards by Topps, Star Wars Rebel Attax uses Topps' signature attribute-comparison format where cards feature the Rebels cast (Ezra, Kanan, Hera, Sabine, Zeb, Chopper) and Imperial antagonists (Grand Admiral Thrawn, Inquisitors, Stormtroopers) with ranked combat attributes.

The context

Star Wars Rebels was Disney's first new Star Wars animated series after the Clone Wars and served as the broadcast bridge between the prequel era and Rogue One. Topps' Rebel Attax paralleled the show's 2014-2018 broadcast run with themed waves matched to each season.

The collector angle

Several series waves shipped across the show's four-season run. Limited-edition Grand Admiral Thrawn foil cards are the iconic chase because Thrawn's canon-return was a major fan-service moment.
