Timestream: The Remnant CCG is a late-1990s time-travel CCG built around temporal-paradox mechanics where past and future players affect each other across the sequence of play.

The game

Released in the late 1990s, Timestream: The Remnant CCG is a two-player duel where each player plays a faction of time-travellers and contests historical events by intervening across Era location cards. Mechanics use a paradox system where time-travel plays can retroactively modify already-resolved cards.

The context

The late-1990s CCG market produced several time-travel-themed designs (Towers in Time CCG being a direct contemporary), and Timestream added its own distinctive paradox mechanics to that sub-genre.

The collector angle

Limited print quantities and modest distribution make the game obscure in modern CCG aftermarkets. Foil Era rares and paradox-event cards are the primary collector items for the small indie-1990s-CCG completionist community.
