Ultimate Combat CCG is a mid-1990s martial-arts fighting CCG, built around choreographed-combat card exchanges that emulate the rhythm of kung-fu film fights.
The game
Released in the mid-1990s, Ultimate Combat CCG is a two-player fighting duel where each player picks a Martial Artist and plays attack, block, and counter cards in sequence. Mechanics emphasise combo-chain setups where successive correct-choice plays trigger escalating damage.
The context
The mid-1990s martial-arts-tournament zeitgeist (Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter II: The Movie, the Van Damme filmography) made martial-arts-themed gaming commercially viable, and Ultimate Combat CCG attempted to bring that cinema-combat feel to the card format. It competed in the same niche as Killer Instinct CCG and the later Mortal Kombat Kard Game.
The collector angle
Only a small run shipped before the product was discontinued in the mid-90s CCG contraction. Martial-artist character-rare cards are the primary collector items. The game is primarily a curiosity within 1990s-CCG completionist archives rather than an actively traded collectible.
