WWE Raw Deal is the long-running wrestling card game from the Attitude Era / Ruthless Aggression Era window, and it earned an unusual reputation among CCGs for being a genuinely well-designed combat simulation rather than a cash-in product.

The game

Published by Comic Images from 2000 onward (originally as WWF Raw Deal, renamed to WWE in 2002 after the WWF/World Wildlife Fund branding settlement), Raw Deal is a two-player wrestling duel. Each player picks a Superstar and plays maneuver cards back and forth, drawing from a backlash deck to represent momentum. Matches end when one wrestler runs out of Fortitude. The signature move cards (Stone Cold Stunner, Pedigree, Chokeslam) are the emotional payoff.

The context

Raw Deal ran during wrestling's biggest US broadcast audiences since the 1980s, with Stone Cold, The Rock and Triple H on television weekly. Comic Images was a long-time sports-and-entertainment card publisher with serious WWE licensing relationships, which gave the game direct access to wrestler portraiture and official logos. Designers updated the card pool roughly in step with roster changes, which tracked wrestling's real-world soap opera.

The collector angle

The line ran nine main expansions between 2000 and 2006 under the Comic Images banner, covering Attitude Era, Ruthless Aggression and early post-brand-extension rosters. WWE Raw Deal has a notable active tournament community that persisted years after the line's 2006 discontinuation, which has kept vintage cards trading at real prices. The Survivor Series promos and the autographed wrestler cards from WWE-sanctioned 2001-2005 fan events are the trophy items, particularly signed Rock, Stone Cold and Undertaker variants.
