Xiaolin Showdown TCG adapts Christy Hui's Kids' WB animated series, a martial-arts-action cartoon that ran 2003-2006 and had a passionate fan following despite never quite breaking into top-tier merchandise rotation.

The game

Released in 2006 by Upper Deck, Xiaolin Showdown TCG is a two-player duel where each player plays a Dragon (Omi, Raimundo, Kimiko, Clay) or antagonist (Jack Spicer, Wuya, Chase Young) and contests Shen Gong Wu artifact cards through Xiaolin Showdown challenge cards. The Showdown mechanic is the signature: named challenge cards force specific mini-games (races, comparisons, votes) that determine the Shen Gong Wu's ownership.

The context

Xiaolin Showdown was Warner Bros. Animation's underdog property during the Kids' WB late run. Upper Deck's TCG launched in the show's third-season broadcast window, leveraging its modest but loyal fan base. Card art came from the show's distinctive animation, which blended American cartoon style with stylised wuxia visuals.

The collector angle

Only a small base set shipped as the broadcast ended. The Shen Gong Wu artifact cards (Sword of the Storm, Eye of Dashi, Star Hanabi, Orb of Tornami, Mantis Flip Coin) are the most thematically interesting pulls. Because Xiaolin Showdown has not had a major revival, the 2006 Upper Deck cards are the only commercial card game for the property, and collector demand comes primarily from adult former-kid-fans rather than active CCG players.
