Battleground: Fantasy Warfare is a card-based miniatures wargame published by Your Move Games in the United States, with an initial release in May 2006. The game was designed by Robert Dougherty and Chad Ellis as an accessible alternative to traditional painted-miniature wargames: unit cards printed on coated stock stand in for physical models, allowing players to annotate hit points, ammunition, and orders directly on the cards with dry-erase markers. The game is element-based, with cards representing discrete stands of troops carrying their own damage tracks. At launch, three fantasy factions were available (Men, Undead, and Orcs), with additional armies including Dark Elves following in subsequent releases. Two players can start with a single starter deck, and a full game typically runs between one and two hours. Your Move Games positioned the title as a serious wargame that rewarded careful army design and tactical decision-making, not merely a collectible product. The game has since gone out of print.
