Champion of Field is the name of the Captain Tsubasa trading card game system published by Konami in Japan beginning in March 2002. The release was timed to coincide with the 2002 FIFA World Cup, co-hosted by Japan and South Korea, and drew on the Road to 2002 arc of Yoichi Takahashi's Captain Tsubasa manga, in which protagonist Tsubasa Ozora leads the Japanese national team through the tournament. Konami produced starter decks and booster sets under the Champion of Field branding, with the game sharing mechanical DNA with Konami's other sports card systems of the era such as Perfect Eleven. Player cards representing real manga characters were supported by action and technique cards. The game was produced exclusively for the Japanese market. It is now out of print, and surviving cards are collected by Captain Tsubasa franchise enthusiasts. Detailed card counts and complete set listings are not widely documented in English-language sources.
