Digimon Universe Applimonsters is the fourth Digimon card game, released by Bandai in Japan alongside the broader Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters multimedia project in October 2016. The franchise was built around a fresh concept in which digital creatures called Appmons are born from smartphone applications, reflecting the ubiquity of mobile technology among children by the mid-2010s. The anime series premiered on all TXN stations on October 1, 2016, and the card game launched the same month.
Players build decks of at least 30 cards and begin each game with 100 points; the goal is to reduce the opponent's score to zero. Turns flow through five phases, including an AppGattai (fusion) phase in which Appmons of ascending grades can be combined, and a Battle phase in which cards clash using one of three attack types (A, B, or C). Four sets were released: a starter and three booster packs published between October 2016 and April 2017. Both main booster packs have since been discontinued, and the card game did not outlast the anime, which concluded in September 2017.
