Doctor Who: Monster Invasion was a collectible trading card game published by BBC Worldwide (BBC Magazines) beginning in May 2011, positioned as the successor to the earlier Battles in Time card series. The game was distributed through a fortnightly magazine priced at 2.60 pounds sterling; each issue included a booster pack of nine cards, and the first issue launched nationally on 5 May 2011.
The card design followed a Top Trumps-adjacent structure, with each card carrying five numeric stats: Scariness, Cunning, Strength, Ruthlessness, and Power. The base set contained 165 cards across six categories including Doctors, Villains, Allies, Monsters, Gadgets, and Adventures. A second release called Extreme arrived in September 2011 with 180 new cards, followed by Ultimate in 2012. Sixteen cards in the original set were augmented-reality enabled, activating 3D effects through the associated website. The companion magazine ran for 52 issues before concluding on 18 April 2013.
