Flesh and Blood is a trading card game published by Legend Story Studios, an independent company founded in Auckland, New Zealand. The game was designed by James White, who began development around 2012, and officially launched on October 11, 2019 with the inaugural set Welcome to Rathe, which was distributed directly from the studio to local game stores across the United States, Australia, and New Zealand.
Players assume the roles of powerful heroes drawn from a dark fantasy world called Rathe. Each hero belongs to one of fourteen character classes, and players build 60-to-80-card decks around their chosen hero's abilities, equipment, and class-specific cards. The game was deliberately designed for in-person competitive play rather than online adaptation, a philosophy embedded in its name and central to the studio's identity. Legend Story Studios grew from a team of six operating out of a studio apartment at launch to a company running national championship events in dozens of countries. By 2025, prize pools for the annual World Tour had reached seven figures, cementing Flesh and Blood as the most commercially significant trading card game to emerge from Oceania.
