Onmyo Taisenki (also rendered Onmyou Taisenki, literally The Chronicles of the Great Yin-Yang War) is a Japanese mixed-media franchise developed by WiZ and Bandai, centered on a young protagonist who forms contracts with supernatural creatures called shikigami to battle supernatural threats. The franchise launched in late 2003 with a manga serialization in V Jump magazine and later expanded to a 52-episode anime series that aired from 2004 to 2005, as well as Game Boy Advance and PlayStation 2 video games. Bandai issued a trading card game component alongside the franchise's wider merchandise rollout beginning in November 2003, packaged under the Cardass system that the company used for several of its media properties. The card game supported the toy and media ecosystem but did not achieve the sustained popularity of contemporaneous Bandai card products. Detailed set documentation for the physical card game is limited in Western sources.
